Community-minded furniture removal

Your discarded furniture could help someone in need!

There are many reasons you might discard furniture - downsizing, upsizing, remodeling, moving, upgrading, replacing. At Camo Crew Junk Removal, we understand! And because there are so many reasons why a piece of furniture is unwanted, Camo Crew won’t take just one approach to disposal.

  • If something can be put to good use by someone else, we do our best to find a home for it. We’ll take care when we’re moving it, so it arrives at our warehouse ready to be used again.

  • If something is too worn or damaged or we can’t find a home for it, we’ll reclaim components for recycling if at all possible.

  • Sending furniture to a landfill is our last resort!

How do furniture donations work?

Your family has outgrown the kitchen table. Your parents are down-sizing. You just got married and need to merge households. In situations like these, the furniture you’re discarding can often be used by someone else.

To match furniture with new owners, Camo Crew partners with the Milwaukee County Housing Division, Habitat for Humanity and a local church, all of which have programs to help people in need. Unlike many junk-removal services, we will commit to storing furniture for a period of time to give these agencies access to our inventory as needs arise. We also work with them to prioritize items that are in demand.

Americans toss out 12 million tons of furniture each year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Much of that furniture contains components that can’t be recycled and won’t biodegrade. The problem has become worse with the rise of “fast furniture,” mass-produced furniture that’s designed to be less expensive and last only a few years.

By working hard to donate discarded furniture, Camo Crew helps reduce unwanted waste.

We strive for the most eco-friendly option possible!

Upholstered chairs shredded by your cat. Couches used as toddler trampolines. Entertainment centers built for bulky TVs. Sometimes, it isn’t possible to find a new home for the furniture you discard.

Whenever we can, we’ll send wood furniture and wood components to recycling centers to be turned into wood chips. But unfortunately, furniture is not designed to be easily recycled. Most of the wood used in furniture can’t be composted because it’s treated with paint or varnish. Leather is often fused to padding, making it difficult to reclaim. Many plastic, metal, glass, wood, fabric, and foam components can’t be reclaimed efficiently.

That’s why it’s so important to focus on donations. By working with Camo Crew, you’ll do your part!
