CAMO CREW JUNK REMOVAL NAMED OUTSTANDING VETERAN-OWNED BUSINESS

It’s the second Governer’s Award for waste-solutions entrepreneur

Camo Crew Junk Removal, a veteran-owned company, has been recognized as a 2023 Outstanding Business by Governor Tony Evers and Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

Camo Crew, based in Butler, was one of seven businesses and leaders recognized by the MARKETPLACE Governor’s Awards, which honors Wisconsin businesses owned by minorities, women and service-disabled veterans, and their advocates. Founder and Owner Andy Weins accepted the award at the Governor’s annual Conference on Diverse Business Development, presented by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation at the Baird Center in December.

It was the second year in a row Weins was honored at the event. Last year, he accepted an Outstanding Business Award for his consulting business, Green Up Solutions. Both awards are in the veteran-owned businesses category.  “It’s a great honor for me and my team,” Weins said. “And I’m especially grateful to see a spotlight put on veterans. I hope it encourages more businesses to step up their support for a community that has given a lot and has a lot more to give.”

As the Camo Crew name suggests, Weins draws his inspiration from his military service and puts a focus on hiring veterans. He has 19 years of service in the military, is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and is currently a U.S. Army Reserve Career Counselor. He is a fourth-generation entrepreneur and Cardinal Stritch graduate. Through consulting, teaching and podcasting, he is a passionate supporter of veterans, entrepreneurs, and the environment, among other causes.

Camo Crew Junk Removal takes a responsible, efficient and compassionate approach to helping customers declutter, reorganize or move. The company minimizes what it sends to landfills by sorting items by hand in order to donate, recycle or repurpose as much as possible. Entering its 42nd year, MARKETPLACE helps Wisconsin businesses learn about contracting with state, federal and local agencies as well as corporations. Participants at the two-day event connect with buyers as well as other small businesses and service providers.
